Key facts only, trimmed to fit; each card's page has the full wording, sources and checked dates. "Sites" is the issuer's own claim. "Not published" means we couldn't find the figure on the issuer's public pages. "Unverified" values are partly confirmed; see the card page for why.

Where can you fill up?

Most Australian forecourts belong to a few brand families. A single-brand card works across its own family; a multi-brand card works across nearly all of them.

  1. Viva Energy family

    • Shell
    • Reddy Express
    • Coles Express
    • Liberty
    • Westside
    • OTR

Shell Card: over 1,500 sites, including all 184 OTR stations since November 2024.1

    Cards: Shell Card (Australia)

  2. bp family

    • bp
    • bp truck stops
    • Extended merchant network

BP Plus: all bp service stations and truck stops; bp's network has over 1,400 sites. X Convenience (49 sites, SA/WA) was reported to accept BP Plus after bp bought it; bp's own pages don't say.23

    Cards: bp plus (Australia)

  3. Ampol family

    • Ampol
    • Foodary

AmpolCard: about 1,700 Ampol locations. Acceptance at EG-operated Ampol sites: unconfirmed.4

    Cards: AmpolCard

Cards that span the families

  • WEX Motorpass 6,500+ locations (95% of stations): 7-Eleven, Ampol, BP, Caltex, Reddy Express, Metro, Shell, United and most independents. The prepaid Pay2Go version also lists Woolworths, Mobil, Coles Express and Liberty.56
  • FleetCard (Classic) 6,100+ sites (95%): Shell, Ampol, EG, BP, United, 7-Eleven, Liberty and more. Discounts differ by brand: up to 6¢/L at Shell, 3¢/L at other selected partners.7

Cross-refuelling in short

Single-brand cards only cross-refuel within their owner's family: Shell Card across Viva Energy's brands, BP Plus across bp's network. We found no issuer statement that Shell Card, BP Plus or AmpolCard is accepted at each other's sites. To cover all the majors on one card, the multi-brand options are WEX Motorpass and FleetCard.

  1. Viva Energy, 'Shell Card – now accepted at OTR Australia-wide', 11 Nov 2024
  2. bp Australia, BP Plus network coverage
  3. Supermarket News, 'bp completes acquisition of X Convenience', 5 Feb 2025 (third-party report)
  4. Ampol, AmpolCard
  5. WEX Motorpass brochure (2026)
  6. WEX Motorpass Help Centre, 'Where can I use WEX Motorpass Pay2Go?'
  7. FleetCard, FAQs and Classic card page

Issuer claims as published, checked 20 Oct 2026. Brands change hands and acceptance changes; check the issuer's site locator before relying on a station.
